Your trust matters. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and the rights you have over your information.

1. Who we are

The World Water Alliance Inc. (“WWA,” “we,” “us”) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We are the data controller for personal information collected through worldwateralliance.org.

2. Information we collect

  • You give us: name, email, mailing address, phone, message content (contact & volunteer forms); payment data is handled by our PCI-compliant donation processor — we never see or store full card numbers.
  • Collected automatically: IP address, browser, device, pages viewed, referring URL, timestamps (analytics & security logs).

3. How we use it

  • Process donations and issue tax receipts
  • Respond to inquiries and partnership requests
  • Send program updates and newsletters (only with your consent — unsubscribe anytime)
  • Improve site performance and security
  • Comply with legal and regulatory obligations

4. Legal bases (GDPR)

Consent, contract performance, legitimate interests (site security, fraud prevention), and legal obligation.

5. Sharing

We do not sell personal information. We share only with vetted service providers under contract: payment processor (Stripe), email platform, hosting, analytics. We may disclose information when legally required.

6. Your rights

  • Access, correct, or delete your data
  • Withdraw consent at any time
  • Opt out of marketing
  • Data portability and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority
  • California residents: rights under CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know and the right to opt out of “sharing” (we do not share for cross-context advertising)

7. Retention

We keep donor records for 7 years (IRS requirements). Newsletter subscribers until you unsubscribe. Inquiry messages for 24 months.

8. Security

TLS encryption, access controls, regular backups, and ongoing monitoring. No method is 100% secure; we do our best.

9. Children

Our site is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect their data.

10. Changes

We will post any updates here with a new “Last updated” date.
